Bandanas have been in my life ever since I can remember. However, I was not always so fond of them as I am now. I have many memories of my mom accessorizing my hair with bandanas during my childhood saying how stylish they were when she was growing up despite my incessant protests that I looked ridiculous. As I grew, I learned to tolerate them, and even like them on certain occasions. Even so, I can only recall a handful of times I have been seen sporting one in the past eight years.
Recently bandanas have come full circle and made a stylish and trendy reappearance. This return began at music festivals like Coachella, notorious for its stylishly dressed attendees in eclectic and western inspired pieces. I for one, am ecstatic that is western trend is coming back for the sheer versatility of the bandana. Unlike previous trends gracing festival grounds, this ‘It’ accessory is very affordable and has some real practicality to it, too. A bandana can be worn as a head wrap, a headband, a scarf, a choker, a bracelet, and I have even seen it worn as a top on some occasions. So many possibilities!
I recently bought a new laptop for college. Naturally, I wanted to get some cool decorations so I started searching for companies that give out free stickers (i’m working with a college budget here!) If you’re in the same boat here are a bunch of websites that are give them out.
I found many companies had forms set up to send out stickers or otherwise you just have to shoot them an email asking for stickers. (linked are the forms)
These companies have a form to fill out for free stickers:
Ron Jon Surf Shop Ron Jon Surf Shop Attn: Free Stickers
3850 S Banana River Blvd. Cocoa Beach, FL 32931
These companies will send you stickers if you fill out the linked forms or email them at their customer service email address.
Yeti Coolers – email them at firstname.lastname@example.org
Puma – email them at email@example.com Vineyard Vines – email them at firstname.lastname@example.org Moosejaw Peace Tea Coca Cola Snapple
These are just a small collection I have gathered of the many companies who participate. If there are other companies you want to receive stickers from, I would suggest emailing them through customer service. More often than not, they are happy to send you some.
Hope you all are having a good end of summer and start to the school year!
One of my New Year Resolutions is to walk at least 10,000 steps a day. I picked this number because the American Heart association says you should walk 10,000 steps a day in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. At school I easily walk 11,000 steps a day just walking to and from my classes, and I almost always reach 15,000 steps on weekends. It’s really hard to reach my goal while I am on break and home from school because it isn’t necessary for me to walk everywhere here.
While I am home, I am constantly trying to think of ways to reach my step goal. It’s so much more challenging since our roads are not easily walkable and very narrow. My favorite way to get my steps in is to walk my dog one or two times a day.
I received a Fitbit Flex as a High School graduation gift and it is one of the most useful gifts I have ever received. This is one of the more inexpensive products in the Fitbit product line. There’s a tracker for every budget, too. The trackers range from around $60- $250. There are even Fitbits designed by designers like Tory Burch so they actually look like a bracelet!
My favorite part about my Fitbit is actually the app that comes along with it. It tells me a variety of things like my steps, miles, calories burned, and active minutes. It even tracks my sleep and will tell me about my quality of sleep. The best part about the app, though, is that you can compete with your friends and see who can get the most amount of steps in a week. Competing with my friends has motivated me to be active on days when I would rather be a couch potato all day.
*this post is not affiliated in any way this Fitbit, I just really love the product :)*
Its been exactly a week since New Years Resolutions have been made. Many of us pick the typical: loose weight, be more active, learn an instrument, or eat more healthy. That was the easy part. Now here comes the hard part- actually keeping those resolutions.
We are all guilty of giving up on our resolutions way too soon. This year lets at least try to stick to them.
Here are my tips on making your resolutions stick:
Make 5 max. resolutions. A mistake many of us make (I know I always do) is to pick too many resolutions. Overload is never the answer. Pick at most 5 resolutions that you really want to focus on and stick with. By focusing on these, you are less likely to get overwhelmed and able to spend more time on each.
Make a list once a week of tasks relating to your resolutions. If you want to lose weight, it might be “go to the gym and try 2 different fitness classes.” If you want to learn the guitar, it might be ” learn three chords by Friday.”
Put it in your calendar. Allot a certain amount of time each day/week to your resolutions. Doing this will help you stay focused and on track for success.
It’s okay if you don’t complete all of them. I know I always get so stressed out over my resolutions because I want to make sure I do all of them. Thats not the point of them though, they shouldn’t stress you out. They are supposed to help you have goals and have fun throughout the year. So, if you don’t complete all of them, don’t worry.
Have fun! The point is to have fun and do new things. So go out there are kick butt with your resolutions this year.
As the weather is changing I am looking for ways to make my wardrobe more geared towards spring. I just went shopping and picked up this pencil skirt from Ann Taylor. I really like it because I don’t see many pencil skirts in light colors. I also LOVE the pattern and the colors go together very well. The pale pink and pastel blue work really well for spring. I also found this coat in my sisters closet and was surprised to find how much I liked it. The light blue is nice for the warmer weather when you still need a coat to keep warm.
The Lilly Pulitzer x Target collab officially is available for purchase in TWO WEEKS! I am extremely excited to get it all. The lookbook is out and every thing looks amazing from all categories (women’s, girl’s, home, and beauty).
The one question I had before the lookbook came out was what the pricing would be. I am so happy to see that everything is very affordable!
Here are some of the looks:
In addition to all of these lovely pieces, I seriously LOVE the home collection. My favourite are the mugs and the hammock!
I am sure that the minute the pieces are available to buy, the collection will sell out fast. I am planning on going to target bright and early on the 19th to hopefully assure that I can buy the things I want. If you want to buy the items online, I would highly recommend creating an account on target.com in advance to save time.
What is your favourite piece from this fabulous collection?
For those of you who were able to travel around the globe in pursuit of the joys of Fashion Month, you know how creative this September’s Fashion Month Couture shows were. As for the rest of us following along from the conform of our own homes, we all were dying to be a part of the couture frenzy happening in the the major cities around the world: New York, Paris, London, Milan, and Berlin.
Here are a handful of my favourite looks that captured the essence of this seasons Fashion Month:
I love Autumn! its the perfect season for layering. I always get excited when I can finally retire the flip flops (for the time being) and bring out the layering sweaters and lush scarfs. There are still some days in Autumn that you need lighter pieces. I love this crop top and skirt with these boots. If it gets colder I can just put on tights and throw on a peacoat. There is great versatility.
